CRAP.  Have three finals tomorrow, and I chose to take this weekend to melt into a puddle of inertia instead of studying.  NOT GOOD.

In other news, Poison Sky rocked my socks for reasons everybody else on the f-list have quite adequately covered already, so I won't be all redundant and repetitive by writing them all out like everybody else (geddit?).

Also, IRON MAN IS MADE OF WIN.  Seriously.  Practically better than Spiderman.  Anyone planning on seeing it, DO SO!!!  And make sure YOU STAY THROUGH THE END CREDITS!  I may be coming down with a slight crush on Robert Downey Jr., in spite of his questionable facial hair.  Such pretty eyes!  GUH.   The dynamic between his character and Gwyneth Paltrow's was great, as was his chemistry with Terence Howard, who needed to be in it more than he was.  Heterosexual life partners, those two.

Well, not quite.  But there are some freaky hand prints on my wall that seem to be getting more pronounced as time goes on.  I think it's Cybermen.  Check it out and decide for yourself:

In other news, I didn't sleep last night, because I had coffee last evening.  I tried to go to sleep at 2 a.m., only to wake 20 mins. later with my heart thudding in my ears.  I ended up camping out in my living room, watching a marathon of Johnny Depp films: Curse of the Black Pearl, Sleepy Hollow, and From Hell.  Interestingly, all three are films in which Depp uses an English accent, and not only are all three period dramas, but I watched them in chronological order: PotC is set somewhere between 1720-1750, Sleepy Hollow in 1799-1800, and From Hell in 1888.

Upcoming!

It's always nice--and exceptionally rare--when Hollywood chooses to pander to my warped cinematic tastes.  And this December is looking to be one of those occasions.

Item the first:  Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.  All I have to say, it's got Johnny Depp with Bride of Frankenstein hair, a Jack Sparrow-meets-Inspector Abbeline accent...singing!  I'll take that in my Christmas stocking.  Mmm...meat pies.

Item the second:  I am Legend, based on the eponymous 1954 sci-fi horror novel by Richard Matheson.   This adaption will be Hollywood's third updating of the novel; the first (titled The Last Man on Earth) starred Vincent Price in 1964, the second (Omega Man), in 1971, featured Charlton Heston.  This one stars Will Smith as lonely scientist Robert Neville who is seemingly the last man left alive after a pandemic has wiped out the human race...or is he?  I am Legend is also credited as an inspiration for George A. Romero's zombie movies (I think Night of the Living Dead even borrows snippets of The Last Man on Earth's score).  The casting of Will Smith amuses and perplexes me (I know he's a two-time Oscar nominee...but I just can't get ID4 and I, Robot out of my head), but I'm hopeful, nonetheless.

It's inexcusable that I haven't read the book, yet.  That's my new goal, to find and read I am Legend before December.

Took myself to the movies tonite and saw "Rocky Balboa."  And it was EXcellent!  I have very vague memories of seeing Rocky I-III ages ago when the local networks would air them as their space-filler, Saturday afternoon movie, but I've never bothered to watch any of them properly, since I have the basic gist of it all.  And that's all I needed to get pumped and thrilled and happy and amused during this latest (and last??) boxing adventure by Sylvestor Stallone.
