...But only for a few seconds, because our transformer ROCKS.
Have you ever watched a transformer blow up? (Not the "robots in disguise" kind of transformer (alas), but the "big metal box bolted to the top of the power line" kind of transformer.) We got a wicked ice storm this weekend, followed by some very nasty wind, and trees and power lines were going down all over the place. Except, apparently, on our street. Then the transformer across the road got hit. There was an eerie, deep WOM WOM sound that vibrated through the walls of the house, and the lights flickered. I looked out the window and saw a brilliant explosion of blue sparks like a low fireworks display. It happened about five times in the span of a minute or so. The street and sky would light up with an electric blue glow, sparks flew from the transformer, the house WOM WOMMED and the lights went out. But amazingly, a minute later power came back on and all was apparently well. It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen, and my inner 9-year-old was thrilled by it.
Today is sunny and the world is made of glass.
