My mom won't be happy about this.

According to trekmovie.com, the American version of Life on Mars is canceled.  Like Jericho and New Amsterdam before it, this show was dearly loved by my mother.  Reason #829,637 not to bother with TV: inevitably, your favorite shows get axed before their time.  Yet Smallville chugs on.

Yeah, it was announced last week, on the same day they announced a US DVD release of the original UK version. Tell her to watch that one instead. It's better.

(At least ABC is letting the US version wrap up its loose ends before all's said and done, which is more than most shows get these days!)

Last week, you say? Oh. At least this way, it gets a proper ending and people years from now can buy the boxset and be happy with a good product (like Firefly, got canceled before it could get stupid). As for my mom, as long as she's got Ugly Betty, I think she'll be okay. :-P

Alas, I suspect Firefly was a fair ways away from getting stupid, but I take your point. And yes, I'm glad it's getting, shall we say, a proper burial? I was never convinced that the idea would work for years and years of 22-ep seasons, so this may be for the best anyway. I didn't hate it like I thought I would, though I can't get past Harvey Keitel's pale imitation of the One True Gene. ;) Still, I'd like to catch up on it (haven't seen anything new since the first January ep) before it goes.
