What the eff, life?

Very busy week it's been.  In short, the lay-offs happened, so when this project is through, so am I.  It was a big affair, too, involving each and every one of us sitting for a face-to-face with the big boss guy to get our pink slips.  Just wish I could bill the company for those two hours I spent waiting in line to get sacked!

On the plus side, the project got extended for another week, meaning I'll get a full month's work in, which is really nice, and my layoff is just one of the historic thousands that have happened this past month, so I've got almost a kind of pride about it.  (I know, weird.)  I have been directly affected by the downturning economy.  Go me.  Funnily enough, today spawned talk of another possible extension since we had a visiting archaeologist take some soil core samples, and he pulled up a scraper from about a meter below our deepest unit.  The phrase "unexpected discovery clause" was mentioned.  Hehe.  I doubt my luck would be that good, but still.

Anyway, I am reading all of your posts, good luck to all you NaNo participants!

Well, a month of work is better than nothing, but the situation still sucks. :( I hope you can find a good new job soon!

Lol, thanks, me too! Even if it means hauling my sorry backside back to crazy Christmas retail, I'll find something.
