Obligatory Real Life Post

Okay, so here's the deal: on Sunday I'm leaving (on a jetplane/don't know when I'll be back again/leeeeeeaving on a jetplane...sorry, distractable) for Ithaca, NY to engage in various hole-digging-and-ancient-Indian-secrets-discovering activities for the next six weeks.  During this time I will likely have only very limited computer access, if any.  (OMG, six weeks and no interwebs?!11??  No computer no interwebs make happydalek go crazy.) 

Of course, it may turn out that I'll have ample computer-net access, but as I am sorely lacking in details for this trip (I know I'll have a bed, and that's about it!), I'm taking the safe route and assuming I will be absent.  If I wasn't so utterly broke and behind-the-times, I'd have a laptop to take with me, ensuring frequent lj doses, but I can't lug a desktop PC into the wilds of Ithaca, so I'll just have to go all old-school and do without.  (What did people do before the Internet??) 

So if any of you dear folk on my f-list decide to have amazing, fantastic adventures in the next six weeks, I will have to read and squee about it later.  I wish you all a safe and fantastic summer, and I look forward to catching up with you all come the middle of July.

As do I. Though I've already got my fingers crossed for "please no burial grounds, please no burial grounds, please no burial grounds!" A), I'm not fond of trespassing on curses, B), I have poor kung-fu skills and none whatsoever with nunchucks that I could use against resurrected mummies or evil spirits or aliens, and C), finding human remains would force us to invoke NAGPRA, the Native American Graves Repatriation Act and would force us to stop teh digging. (I are archaeologist, because of my learnings!)

Dragons?! My paperwork said nothing about dragons! Never fear, I will keep two sticks handy for the purpose of banging them together to scare the wily reptiles away. (I saw that work somewhere...)

My goal is to have the prettiest holes in all the land. Even if I must kill to accomplish it, oh yes.

Well in the next 6 weeks we'll have moved house and school will be out for the summer (18 july). Several problems for reception will hopefully have been sorted, SpLT will have started i hope and i'll be...33 weeks pregnant? or so. thereabouts, anyways. Big as a house.

Have a good trip! LJ will miss you, it just won't be the same round here...
