Voyage of the Damned

...Was very aptly named.

Review in six words: It was Poseidon Adventure in space.

Other thoughts:

Foon and Morvin rocked, and I was SO ANGRY when they died (even if they were obvious stereotypes).

Astrid was Rose 1.2, so why should I care about her at all?  (Though am I alone in thinking that's why Ten was so infatuated with her in the first place?)

Mr. Cooper should have become a companion, and Ten was a total jerk by telling him off, particularly when he was so obviously keen on Astrid coming along.  I mean, who better to travel with the Doctor than someone who clearly needs to be educated about other alien cultures, particularly Earth?  OPPORTUNITY WASTED.  GAH.

Another Christmas special with killer holiday-themed robots.  I was waiting to find out they were the "pilot fish" again.  (And the masks were obviously gold-painted Autons with slits in the mouths.  Not a gripe, just a funny observation.)  Here's a wacky idea, how about NO KILLER ROBOTS in next year's special?

The final bit with the Queen was unbelievably hokey.  Still, I laughed.

I saw the real Max Capicorn, and my first thought was, "Davros?"  When they panned up to reveal his face, then all I could think of was Frontios.

The Doctor's desperate bid to resurrect Astrid struck me as just deeply morbid and unnecessary.  Mr. Cooper's line, "I'll never forget her," was a far more fitting end than the creepy ghosty thing with the teleport.  *shudder*

And, seriously, it was almost a frame-by-frame condensation of The Poseidon Adventure.  Except nowhere near as good.

Knew it couldn't just be me. ;) Elderly white men rock.
